Tennis Scholarships

While tennis scholarships for men and women are widely available in the U.S., talented players can find opportunities through NCAA Division 1, Division 2, and NAIA programs. Tennis has grown in popularity across American universities, leading to enhanced coaching, state-of-the-art facilities, and increasingly competitive play. More and more elite players from around the world are choosing to attend American universities, drawn by the chance to combine high-level tennis with a quality education. Top programs like Stanford, Florida, and UCLA actively recruit internationally, contributing to a notable rise in the number of foreign athletes on collegiate tennis rosters. By 2015, international players made up a significant portion of college tennis teams—a trend that continues to gain momentum.

Eligibility for Tennis Scholarships

Strong academic performance is crucial for student-athletes aspiring to secure a field hockey scholarship. Without the required GPA or SAT/ACT scores, even top athletic achievements won’t suffice. Scholar Sport Link provides personalized guidance to help you through this process, assessing your academic and athletic profiles to match you with the right university program. For students needing to improve their grades, we also assist in identifying suitable pathways to qualify for NCAA eligibility.

Scholarship Opportunities

High-caliber female tennis players have access to both full and partial scholarships. Women’s tennis is an “equivalency sport,” allowing coaches to divide a pool of scholarships (up to 8 full scholarships in Division 1) among multiple players as they see fit. This system provides flexibility, enabling coaches to offer partial scholarships to a larger number of athletes, creating more opportunities for talented players across 320 Division 1 and Division 2 programs.

If you’re passionate about combining tennis with academics, the U.S. college system could be the ideal environment to achieve both your athletic and educational goals. With extensive opportunities and an ever-growing level of competition, college tennis in the U.S. offers a dynamic pathway to pursue elite athletics while earning a world-class education.
